Care plans

Three plans for one site, priced in full

£95 a month, £225 a month or £390 a month. They are alternatives rather than steps: a site sits on one of them, and the difference between them is how much of my time comes with the care.

WordPress Essential

Keeping a settled site backed up, updated and watched.

£95

A month, one site

Minor changes
None included
First reply within
two working days

What it covers

  • One WordPress site, backed up every day, with the copy kept off the site itself
  • WordPress core, plugins and themes updated on a schedule, and the site looked over afterwards
  • Uptime monitoring, so a site that stops answering is noticed here rather than by your customers
  • A written record of the month, sent to you at the end of it
  • No allowance for changes to the site. Anything you want changed is quoted on its own before it is started.

  • Up to 5 hours a month of minor changes to text, pictures and pages

Underneath all three

  • One WordPress site, backed up every day, with the copy kept off the site itself
  • WordPress core, plugins and themes updated on a schedule, and the site looked over afterwards
  • Uptime monitoring, so a site that stops answering is noticed here rather than by your customers
  • A written record of the month, sent to you at the end of it

The plan at £95 is exactly this and no allowance for changes: it suits a site that is finished and simply needs keeping safe. The two above it add 2 hours and 5 hours a month of my time for changes to the pages.

The three, in one table

Every figure here is printed from the same price list as the cards above, so the two cannot drift apart.

Working days are Monday to Friday, not counting bank holidays in Scotland. A response time is the first reply from me, not the time the work takes: see below.

What comes out of the included time

Small work on a site that already exists. Each job is timed and the minutes go in the record.

  • Text changed, added or taken off an existing page
  • Pictures swapped, cropped and sized to fit the layout
  • A page built out of copy and pictures you supply, in the style the site already uses
  • Menus, links and footer details brought up to date
  • Opening hours, addresses and staff details corrected
  • Small styling fixes: spacing, a heading that wraps badly, a button that is the wrong colour

What is quoted on its own

Bigger work is not squeezed into an allowance. It gets its own figure in writing before anything starts, and you are free to say no.

  • A new design, or a redesign of pages you already have
  • Moving the site to different hosting, a different domain or a different platform
  • Adding a shop, a booking system or payments
  • Plugins or templates built specially for you
  • Writing your copy, taking your photographs or running your advertising
  • Recovering a site that has been hacked or lost, where there was no plan in place

Time does not carry over

The allowance is monthly. Whatever is unused at the end of the month ends with it: it is not banked towards next month and it is not refunded. If you go over, I say so before carrying on and we agree what happens.

Hosting and licences are yours

Hosting, the domain name and any paid plugin or theme licences stay in your name and are paid to whoever provides them. They are not inside a plan, and nothing here is marked up on top of them.

Month to month

A plan runs a month at a time with no minimum term. Either of us can end it by email before the next month begins, and you keep everything: the site, the hosting, the logins and the records.

Starting

What happens after you ask

You send the request from the contact page or write to liu@miloliu.site. I look at the site as a visitor sees it, and at what you have told me, and reply with the plan that fits, what it covers and the monthly figure. If none of the three fits, I say that too.

If you agree, I ask for administrator access to the site and to the hosting, take a full backup before touching anything, and the first month starts from that day. The first record reaches you at the end of it.

Card payment is not connected on this site yet, so there is no pay button to press: the first month is arranged by email and the invoice says how to pay. Nothing on these pages takes money.

What I need from you

  • Administrator accessTo the WordPress site and, where updates depend on it, to the hosting control panel.
  • One person to askSomebody who can say yes to a change, so work does not sit waiting for a decision nobody is empowered to make.
  • Your own licences in good standingPaid plugins and themes need their licences live, or their updates cannot be applied at all.
  • The material for a changeText, pictures and documents you want up. I lay them out; writing them is separate work.
