The record

A month of care, written down line by line

Maintenance is invisible when it works, which makes it easy to sell and hard to trust. So every month on every plan ends with a record: the day, what was done, and for anything that came out of your included time, how long it took.

A month on WordPress Content Care

£225 a month

This is the layout of the record and the kind of entry it carries. Your own month is filled with your own site: the days it was quiet are in there too, because a month where nothing broke is worth seeing.

  • 1 SepPlan month opened. Last night’s backup restored to a test copy and checked over.—
  • 3 SepWordPress core security release applied. Main pages and the contact form opened and checked afterwards.—
  • 5 SepOpening hours changed on the Contact page, as sent through by email.20 min
  • 9 SepFour plugins updated. A fifth held back: its new version needs a paid licence renewing, so your site stays on the version you hold until you decide.—
  • 12 SepThree photographs replaced on the services page, cropped and sized for the layout.35 min
  • 16 SepSix minutes without an answer at 04:12. The host came back on its own; the outage is recorded here and has been raised with them.—
  • 19 SepA new page built from text you supplied, styled like the rest of the site and added to the footer menu.45 min
  • 23 SepContact form tested end to end after the month’s updates. The test message arrived.—
  • 26 SepPostal address in the footer corrected.15 min
  • 29 SepTheme update read through and left for now: it moves the news list about, so it waits until you have seen it on a test copy.—
  • 30 SepMonth closed and this record sent to you by email.—
Care that comes with every plan. It is not timed against your allowance.A change you asked for. The minutes come out of the included time.

How the month added up

2 hours

4
Time they took
1 h 55 min

The 5 min left over ends with the month. It is not carried into the next one and it is not refunded, and that is true on every plan that includes time.

What a record is for

  • You can see where your money went in a month when nothing visibly changed.
  • You can see which updates were applied, and which were held back and why.
  • If you ever move to somebody else, the history of the site goes with you.
  • If something breaks later, the record says what changed and when.

How it arrives

Plain email, at the end of the month

No dashboard to log into and no report that needs decoding. It is written so somebody who does not work with websites can read it.

Every month, on every plan

Including the plan without an allowance for changes. A quiet month still gets a record; it is the quiet months that most need showing.

Kept as long as you are with me

The records of your site are kept for as long as the plan runs, and afterwards for as long as HMRC asks a sole trader to keep business records: the periods are set out on the privacy page. You can ask for a copy at any time.

Written before it is sent

Entries go in as the work is done rather than being reconstructed from memory at the end of the month. Anything deferred is written down too, with the reason it was left.
